The projector could not recognize my laptop.
No problem.
I had 35mm slides.
But the slide tray did not fit into the slide projector.
No problem.
I had overhead transparencies.
Turned on the overhead projector.
POP!
Bulb blew.
No spare bulb.
No problem.
I had paper copies of my presentation for everyone.
These days, I skip the 35mm slides and transparencies. But I always bring a paper copy just in case.
Lisa Yarnell shared a thought with me earlier this week. It went something like “You have no hope of changing the past. Fortunately, the future is spotless.” In that briefest of moments between the past and the future, be prepared.
Things will go wrong. You can’t control when they will go wrong. You can control your preparedness to deal with things when they go wrong. Shame on you if you don’t have back ups to the back ups. Shame on you if you don’t ask and answer the question “What do we do if the things we planned to do if the things we wanted to do don’t work?” or, “What if what if?”
