AVOID the most common Onboarding Landmines

Avoid stepping on seven common onboarding landmines:

ORGANIZATION: Lack of a winning strategy; or inability to implement that strategy

ROLE: Expectations and resources or Key Stakeholders not aligned

PERSONAL: Gaps in individual’s strengths, motivation or fit vs. the organization’s needs

RELATIONSHIP: Failing to establish/maintain key relationships up, across or down

LEARNING: Situation, Customers, Collaborators, Capabilities, Competitors, Conditions

DELIVERY: Failing to build a high performing team and deliver results fast enough

ADJUSTMENT: Not seeing or not reacting to situational changes

In general, you’ll want to mitigate the organization, role and personal landmines before accepting a job, and jumpstart relationships and learning even before day one so you can concentrate on successful delivery and adjustment after you start.
