I wrote articles this week on onboarding risks for each of the Huffington Post, Human Resources Executive, and Forbes.  Each had a different perspective, but the main suggestions are: 1) do the right due diligence, 2) pay attention to cultural fit and 3) manage the message through day one and beyond.

Huffington Post

on Deangelo Vickers first day in The Office – disastrous.  Click to read

Human Resource Executive

Forbes

on Jimmy Cusack's onboarding into LeeWell Capital – a model for how not to do it.  Click to read

(And then click on "follow me" on the Forbes site if you want to be notified of each week's new article.)

PrimeGenesis

bonus on "Sometimes it's best to hit the iceberg head on" if you can't avoid or steer around onboarding risks.  Click to read

Here's the kicker – at least two of these stories are complete fiction.  But that doesn't make the lessons any less real, less painful, or less instructive.

Read and heed.
