Building relationships when onboarding more important than being right

Early on, it's so tempting to impress everyone with how much you know.  It's so tempting to secure your rightful place in the pecking order of intellectual capabilities, subject-matter knowledge, and relevant skills.  It's so tempting to earn their respect by being right.  It's so tempting, and so counter-productive.

Theodore Roosevelt used to say "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care".  Early on, relationships trump being right.  Every time you have the opportunity to show someone that you are right, think about how they are going to feel knowing that they are wrong.

Early on, build your relationships.  I'm right on this one.
