Onboarding Results – Process Tradeoff

The world is full of people so focused on process that they forget about results.  They think that if they do everything right, good things will happen.  It’s also full of people so focused on  result that they forget about process.  They think the end justifies the means.  Who’s right?  Which is more important in onboarding, the process or the results?

This is a false trade-off.  Long-term success flows from new leaders delivering better results faster with a process that brings everyone along and avoids Phyrric victories along the way (winning the battle and losing the war).  Results matter, and so do relationships and learning and adjusting to important changes.
