Anticipated Consequences in Haiti

So painful.  So preventable.  So frustrating.  It would have been one thing if Haiti had been hit by a hurricane the week after the earthquake.  But this is ten months later!  What's the matter with the people in charge of this recovery?

Actions and choices have consequences.  Sometimes you have to deal with unanticipated consequences.  In this case, it was reasonable to assume that the island was going to be hit by a major storm at some point.  It was reasonable to assume that people living in tents would be in trouble when that storm hit. 

Remember Maslow?  The first level needs are food, water, clothing, and shelter.  How is it possible that we, the world at large, have not helped these people secure their food supply, their water supply, and shelter?  You, me, and all of us bear part of the blame for what these people are going to go through tonight, this weekend and over the near future.  None of us deserve to sleep well, because the people in tents in Haiti getting buffetted by Tomas, certainly won't.
