Everything Communicates 24/7 Forever All Ways

EVERYTHING COMMUNICATES

Everything you say (and don’t say). Everything you do (and don’t do).  Everything you choose to listen to and observe.

24/7

Anyone who’s ever had media training knows there is no such thing as “off-the-record” or “off-camera”.   With the growth of the Internet and BlackBerries and the like, you’re always on – 24/7.

FOREVER

You can’t take it back.  The image is always there.  People have long memories and the Internet is helping.  Think about how many people are regretting images they posted on their own FaceBook pages.  Think about how many people are regretting pictures others took.  Just ask Michael Phelps how much the picture of him with a bong has cost him.

ALL WAYS

You’re defined by the communication you choose to receive as well as the communication you send out.  You communicate by whom you spend time with.  You communicate by what you read. You communicate by what webpages you visit.

SO WHAT?

So you need to manage your message, your communication points and all your touch points.  You’re going to send messages whether you want to or not, whether you’re the boss, the subordinate, onboarding into a new role or looking for a job.  This is why it’s so important to think through your message and make choices about how you communicate 24/7 forever all ways.
