Pause to accelerate

This week has been different.  More people downloaded onboarding tools from our book.  More people told me they are starting new jobs.  It felt different.  It felt better.

People onboarding into new roles must avoid the trap of rushing straight from acceptance to start – with perhaps a quick getaway to relax thrown in.

One of our most important learnings has been the value of pausing to accelerate.  At a minimum, people moving into new jobs must must must stop long enough to craft their own entry plan.  There are all sorts of tools to help from books to online workstreams to workshops to coaches to things I don’t know about.  People moving into new jobs should use the ones most appropriate for them.  People hiring people into new jobs should give the people they are hiring access to help.

Ideally, people moving into new jobs will:

– pause long enough to craft a plan

– get a head start before the start

– manage all their messages through the start

– build a high-performing team fast to deliver better results faster
