We all have good days and bad days. Often it seems that the bad days are the ones that get the most attention and scrutiny. So it's nice to be able to take note of New York Yankee Derek Jeter's crossing the 3,000 hit milestone. In a wonderful article in the Daily News, Mike Lupica quotes Reggie Jackson that 3,000 hits "doesn't just mean you have talent. It means you have character, here or anywhere else."
Got to give all sorts of credit to Jeter for resiliency and sticking with it – two very important character traits and leadership skills.
Got to give him all sorts of credit for crossing the milestone with panache too. How much fun is it that hit #3,000 was not just a normal hit but,
- a home run!
- the middle hit of a 5 for 5 performance
- just part of a day that led up to hit #3003, a game-winning single
We all have good days and bad days. Nice to be able to notice and appreciate one of the good ones.
